Law school: Why I hate it.

OK, law school sucks. Don't even get me started on this. If you are a lawyer or current law student, then you know what I mean. If you are a layperson, you'll have to take my word for it. They don't teach you anything practical, the education is waaay overpriced (as are all the "textbooks") and the bar's background check is probably more thorough than the CIA's. Remember that DUI you got at 17? Well, that's going to come back to haunt you (even though you thought it was "sealed"). Total BS, really. Half the stuff they subject you to has NOTHING to do with producing better lawyers and everything to do with humiliating people (while lining their pockets with your tuition money). I'll try to do here what I wish law school did - deliver a bare-bones, straight-forward introduction to law and the legal system. For starters, lawyers don't get paid to know a lot of esoteric shit, they get paid to make creative arguments. In other words, they are professional bullshitters. If a lawyer tries to tell you any differently, well, they are bullshitting you :). Problem is, if you happen to get in trouble or get sued by somebody, you're going to need a lawyer. That's life. Gotta go study. Until next time.
